The Vendee Globe Race takes place every four years and started from Les Sables d’Olonne on Saturday 10th November 2012. Alex sailed around three capes of Good Hope, Horn and Leeuwin battling extreme elements on board his 60ft monohull HUGO BOSS.
Alex described the race as being brutal but so worthwhile. He crossed the finish line to be greeted by crowds who waited on the harbour for his safe arrival, Alex’s team, Hugo Boss and his family were waiting to greet him on the pontoon. Eight meter waves and 40 knot winds were some of the worst weather conditions Alex has faced. Despite this he managed to achieve his personal set target of 80 days.
